VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

In an effort to make FUMC Youth Group a weekly event for the youth of FUMC, we are looking for volunteers that would be willing to give of their time and talents on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 pm once per month. These volunteers would lead the youth in Bible study, games, and activities on their given Sunday. The youth are the future of the church and are worth investing our time and energy. Plus, they are a great group of kids that are fun to be around and that have a lot of great ideas for our church, community, and world!! KNOXVILLE CROP WALK

On Sunday, October 7 at 1:00 p.m. the Knoxville CROP Walk will take place. Walkers from our church include Deb Harvey, Brent Hanna, the Hibma family, the Purvis Family, and the Redden Family. If you would like to donate please contact one of these walkers and/or make your check payable to CWS/CROP. $25 can provide 50 baby chicks to a village, providing protein and income. $50 can provide seeds and tools to help 3 families start a garden. $110 can provide emergency food for a family of five for a month. $150 can send six women to literacy classes and empower them for life. Congratulations to the graduating seniors! Ross Chrisman and Xenia Macritacia will be recognized on Sunday, May 6th at the 8:30 service for their achievement. We wish them many blessings in their future endeavors.

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER RECOGNITION

SUNDAY SCHOOL SCHEDULE

There will be no children’s Sunday school classes Memorial Day weekend (May 27^th) through Labor Day weekend and will resume the regular schedule on Sunday, September 16.

VBS UPDATES

The dates have been set, July 22–26. The theme has been picked, Son World Adventure Park. Now all we need are some willing volunteers who are ready to have fun sharing the love of Jesus with the children of our church and community. Watch the bulletins in May and June for details and meeting times for those interested in helping with VBS.

YOUTH GROUP NEWS

The Youth Group will be traveling to the St. Louis area over Memorial Day weekend for a mission trip. The students are excited and will be sharing their experience in June so watch for more details.

Fundraiser for Youth

 
On Friday, April 13 join the FUMC Youth for a spaghetti dinner with all the fixings and then stay to watch the movie "Courageous". The meal will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 in WFH and the movie will start at 6:30 in the sanctuary. A free will offering will be taken to help support the Youth trip to Chicago this summer.

IUMF College Scholarships available

The Iowa United Methodist Foundation offers a number of scholarship opportunities to college-bound Iowa Methodists. Methodist scholarships exist to assist members of the faith in attending college and achieving their educational goals. Applications and criteria are currently available at www.iumf.org. Applications and all required material must be postmarked no later than March 15, 2012 to be eligible.

YOUTH GROUP

Winter Jam will be held at Wells Fargo Arena on Friday, January 20. If any Youth are interested in attending let Katie and Brian know. Tickets are $10 at the door. Some of the artists included this year are Toby Mac and Third Day.

Youth Group will be meeting on January 8 and January 22 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the church.
